Montreal fans of all things musically brutal should get ready for a night of pure sonic brutality as the giants of death metal, Cannibal Corpse, take the stage once again to absolutely destroy everyone in attendance. Accompanying them on this epic journey into the depths of extreme metal are three equally formidable opening acts: Black Metal heavy weights; Mayhem, masters of the brutal avant-garde; Gorguts, and the haunting sounds of Blood Incantation.
Supporting their new album "Chaos Horrific" legends of death metal Cannibal Corpse will be returning to Montreal for what might be the seven hundredth time. Cannibal Corpse does exceptionally well here in the city of metal excellence. Montrealers loves metal, they love Cannibal Corpse and they love vocalist George "Corpsegrinder Fisher. What's not to love? The dude is so good at just being himself on stage. There's no pretence or pretention. Corpsegrinder knows how silly the songs are but also how deliciously savage they are. He stands firmly in the grey area between the two and because he straddles this line so effortlessly, we trust him. Oh and his neck. We can't forget about his neck. Corpsegrinder's neck is so big it it enters a room 5 minutes before he gets there. He is the master of the windmill head-bang. It's a spectacle we all know and love.
The rest of the show will just as great as the headliners. Denver's Blood Incantation, known for blurring the lines between black metal and death metal with their progressive and atmospheric songs, will mesmerize the audience and set the night off on the right foot.
Following Blood Incantation will be hometown hero's and pioneers of technical death metal, Gorguts. These guys might end up being the real MVP of the night. With their complex song structures and virtuosic musicianship, Gorguts will take you on a journey through the darkest corners of the human psyche, leaving no sonic boundaries unexplored.
It will be up to black metal legends Mayhem to step it up and unleash their relentless fury upon the stage. With their raw and savage energy, Mayhem may very well channel the chaos and darkness that has defined their influential career, and deliver a visceral and unforgettable performance.
And finally, the moment everyone will be eagerly awaiting arrives as Cannibal Corpse take command of the stage. With their savage aggression, bone-crushing riffs, and Corpsegrinder's iconic guttural vocals, the band will unleash a ferocious onslaught of their classic hits and tracks from their latest release "Chaos Horrific" in an unrelenting display of pure metal mastery.
