CONCERT REVIEW: LUCIUS - Accord, NY - July 6, 2023

On a scorching July 6th, the enchanting sounds of Lucius echoed through the air at Arrowood Farms in Accord, NY. The dynamic duo captivated the audience with their mesmerizing performance, giving everyone in attendance a show well worth the heat.



Around 600 eager fans of all ages eagerly awaited Lucius to hit the stage despite the sweltering heat. The moment Lucius began to play, a cool breeze seemed to sweep through the venue and as the sun slowly dipped below the horizon, the show only got cooler! Dressed in stunning almost-matching fushia gowns, Lucius effortlessly took command of the stage, wielding their matching disco ball keytars and equally disco-esque drums. Their exceptional backing band, sporting matching black jumpsuits adorned with stars, brought with them an energy that helped lift the spirit if the show creating an incredible atmosphere.


From the high-energy, disco-infused beauty of their new song, "Next To Normal," to the spellbinding and heartfelt performance of "Dusty Trails," Lucius showcased their extraordinary vocal prowess and flawless execution of each song. Their harmonies soared through the night, leaving the audience in awe between dance moves.



What truly set this concert apart was the interaction between Lucius and their devoted fans. The crowd eagerly embraced the "Choir-ography" challenge during "Heartbursts," singing and dancing along to every beat. Lucius's infectious enthusiasm and their own occasional and simple yet effective dance moves only amplified the joyous atmosphere.



Notable moments included an exquisite duet with the talented Emily King and a stunning encore featuring a collaboration with both Emily King and Sara Bareilles, delivering an unforgettable rendition of Joni Mitchell's "California." The show concluded with Lucius venturing shoeless into the heart of the crowd, serenading everyone with an emotional rendition of "Two of Us on the Run." Their exceptional talent, infectious energy, and genuine love for what they do created an experience that will resonate with fans for years to come.


Opening act Al Oleander set the stage perfectly, with her beautiful voice, delightful banter, and gratitude for the opportunity to open for Lucius.
